It is with a grateful heart that I welcome you to Southern Farmhouse Designs.  This business was born after buying and remodeling our second home in Tomball, Texas.  The joy and love that came with designing a home for our family was indescribable.  After a lot of prayers and a big push from my sweet husband and best friends, I took a leap of faith and started Southern Farmhouse Designs.

I consider it a true honor to be able to create beautiful spaces for my clients and their families. As a wife, mom & business owner my work load changes through different season of life.  I have worked with clients on new builds, remodels, and e-design. It has been such a privilege to work with every client and to help them turn their vision into a reality.

This is my space to create, curate, and collect.  Creating a home is what sets my heart on fire.  I've been designing spaces & collecting antiques for as long as I can remember.  You can read little more about my story below.

I'm so thankful you stopped by.

Hey yall! I’m Ashley. I’m married to Matt and the mom of Emma & Brady. We have a little piece of Texas that we call home just outside of Houston, Texas.

After graduating for Texas A&M in 2006 I moved to Houston to pursue my teaching career. I taught middle school and dance for five years, then retired to become a mom.

My love for design started at a young age. I remember moving furniture around in my room & spending my summers redecorating it for the following school year (bless my momma’s heart). I feel that my passion for creating well loved, well lived in spaces came from my momma. Our home growing up was always the place to be for all of my friends. After having a family of my own, I always hoped to create a home that felt that same way. The kind of place where you walk in and immediately feel like you are family. A place that isn’t too stuffy. A place where you can kick your feet up on the coffee table and not worry about making a mess. My home is beautiful, but it’s messy. We live here & with two young kids running around, I’d drive myself crazy trying to have it picture perfect all the time, nor do I want it to be. It’s my kind of perfect–toys in the family room, smudges on the fridge, sticky handprints on our kitchen island, & dirty, scuffed up wood floors. We share life here and I’m thankful.

I truly believe that God designed homes to be a place of gathering, conversations, messes, laughter & lots of love among family & friends. I hope to inspire others to create intentional spaces that are beautiful and well loved–not Pinterest perfect. Places where family & friends are always welcome and life is shared.

Howdy! I’m Katie Holz. I’m a wife to my high school sweetheart, a mom to two young girls, an Aggie by the grace of God, and child of the one True King.

I love all things pretty! I always have. As a young girl picking out fabrics for my mom to make my dresses, to decorating my apartment room (every year) that I moved in college, and then re-decorating it, to building and designing my first home as an adult. I find joy in not only the aesthetics but joy in the experience that these things brought.

I’m excited to work with Ashley in creating beautifully, well thought out, functional, spaces where fellowship and memories are to be had.

Hi there! I’m Larson Folkerts, thank you for stopping by! I’m the marketing director and design assistant over here at Southern Farmhouse Designs. I’m recently married to the love of my life, Kolton, and we live in a little log cabin in the small town of Hempstead, Texas with our two dogs, Duke and Cinch.

I attended the University of Wyoming for two years then moved back to Texas to attend Texas A&M University where I graduated in 2016 with a degree in Agricultural Communications and Journalism. Yes, that’s an actual degree! I’ve grown up ranching and my family raises Charolais-Angus cattle in Ellensburg, Washington.

Before joining the SFD team, I was a marketing associate and event planner for Caldwell Companies in Houston. I met Ashley at a crawfish boil in March of 2018 and instantly knew she was someone I wanted to work for. I believe she has an incredible gift and a business that is going to do awesome things and I wanted to join her journey!

I’m so excited to be able to put my marketing experience to work at SFD as I learn more about interior design and decorating, something I’ve always had a love for. Home is such a treasured place and I’m excited to be able to help other people make their spaces feel special and well-loved. While my home is far from Pinterest-worthy (it’s old, messy, dog hair everywhere, boxes from wedding festivities scattered amongst rooms), it’s my favorite place because of the people in it and the memories we create together.

When I’m not working, I love to cook, enjoy the outdoors, garden, pray, spend time with my husband and our family and friends and grow my obscene candle collection.
