Back to School: Kid's Homework Station

The first day of school is upon us at my house & to say that I'm excited to have a few free hours to myself would be an understatement.  Don't get me wrong, I love my kids to pieces & we've had a great summer, but my goodness, it's been exhausting.

With school starting back I wanted to create a little space for the kids to do their homework at in our house--a place that is distraction free & where everything is easily accessible.  Our laundry/craft room has become the perfect spot.  I have a little desk area in here where our family computer is & the room was big enough to add a table & a couple of chairs to create the perfect homework station.

The Homework Desk

My dad made the homework & craft table for the kids. He used plumbing pipe to make the base of the table & we bought a wood counter top from Ikea to use as the top. He also made the precious awning over the window (I love that guy).

Each kid got their own bulletin board for pictures & to display their art work. The barn lights are from Amazon for $40 & we used a lamp kit to convert it from a hardwired light to a lamp.  And we used my paw paw's old tool box to put markers, crayons, paper, pencils, etc in. Everything they will need is all in one spot.  And they seem to enjoy being able to decorate their bulletin board with their favorite things.

This entire little project cost right around $300 & a little elbow grease.  Want this look?  You can shop it at the links below.
