Small Touches, Big Improvements - Gallery Walls and Built-ins

Some of the most common decorating details in the home can be the hardest to get right. Take gallery walls and built-ins for example -- when done right, they look effortlessly put together but the actual putting them together takes a lot of trial, error, taking it all down, and starting all over. We at SFD love doing smaller projects like gallery walls and built-ins for clients because they are usually the final touches to a home that help the space feel completed. Here are a couple small projects we completed this past week that we think turned out great!

Simple Home Update | Magnolia, TX

The Metz family might be one of my most favorite families to have worked with thus far.  A year before SFD was born, Jenny came to our home in Houston & kept telling me she wanted me to come decorate her home.  I laughed.  Life was crazy with a 3 year old and newborn & who was I to tell her how to decorate her home? I was just a stay at home mom.  Once we moved closer to this sweet family, I offered my services to her to test the waters of building a business and to start my portfolio.

They bought their home from her in laws, and it had just been renovated.  They moved in with all of their furniture from their old home & made it work the best they could.  Eighteen months after living in it, they decided it was time to make this house their home.  They wanted to brighten up the space, add a few farmhouse touches & put their personality in it.

The unique piece we brought into the space took months to gather.  We shopped online,  at flea markets, local antique stores, and brought in some things they already had. I feel like we truly captured the personality of this fun family in these spaces.  Thank you so much Jenny & Mike for trusting me in designing your home.  It was such an honor to work for y'all & the friendship that developed was just the icing on the cake!

Vivian's Nursery

I had the privilege of meeting the Frizzelle family last summer when they contacted me to help them finish out their kitchen & living room. They are by far the sweetest couple ever. A few weeks after I finished their house, I got a text saying that they were expecting a little one & I was so honored to be able to design their little girl's nursery.

A delicate nursery with little vintage & shabby touches, it turned out to be a beautiful place for this precious little girl.

Paige's Nursery

Over a year ago, (I can't believe my niece is about to be a year old!!), my sister in law asked me to help her with my niece's nursery. Grace pretty much already knew what she wanted - neutral, nothing too girlie, yet very sweet - and I think we hit the nail on the head with this one. It's simple, clean, a little rustic & has the perfect feminine touch.  I love her little room so much.

Frizzelle Home | In Home Consultation & Styling | Richmond, TX

Back at the beginning of the summer, I received an email from a husband of one of the sweetest ladies I've ever met.  Taylor & Danielle found SFD via Instagram & loved our feed. He emailed me wanting to surprise her by having us help them with their home in Richmond, TX.  At our initial consultation, I got to do a walk through of their home, where Danielle shared their plans & dreams for their space.  They are DIYers and had already painted the entire house, and Taylor was in the process of making a kitchen table & coffee table.  I love working with clients that aren't afraid to get their hands dirty. I sent them their mood boards & they got to work right away creating special pieces for their space. They had a lot of fabulous stuff to work with, so on our styling day, I showed up with a few pieces I had picked up for them & we got to work. I love love love how their home turned out.  They have more plans for some other updates in the future.
